According to Vo Ngoc Hung, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, in recent years, the public sports movement in Khanh Hoa has developed quite well with improved quality and larger number of participants.

There are now 26 sports, including leisure sports and water sports, being played in Khanh Hoa. 32.2 percent of the population has done physical exercise and sports regularly; 37.7 percent of the households are sports families; 99.8 percent of pupils have completed physical training program in schools. Khanh Hoa is having 421 sports clubs under four sports federations and 12 sports organizations; more than 800 physical teachers and eight school sports. All of the schools have organized swimming classes to teach pupils swimming and water safety skills. The physical exercise and sports activities have also been carried out regularly by the armed forces.

The province-level sports facilities of Khanh Hoa now include one stadium for football and athletics, one multi-purpose sports hall, one beach volleyball training ground, and one sports technique training center. The localities, organizations, and private enterprises have also invested more in sports facilities. Nha Trang built 194 places for doing physical exercise and sports; Ninh Hoa Town has 139 places.

The promotion of public sports movement has also helped the high-achievement sports in Khanh Hoa to gain encouraging results. For example, in 2017, Khanh Hoa’s high-achievement sports teams took part in 75 national tournaments and brought home 68 gold medals, 69 silver medals and 64 bronze medals. Last year, Khanh Hoa organized training courses for 313 professional players and 123 amateur ones. The representative of Khanh Hoa’s football in V-League 2017, Sanna Khanh Hoa – Bien Vietnam, finished the season at sixth; placed second in Mekong Cup 2017. The beach volleyball teams of Khanh Hoa won championships in both men’s and women’s events in all three tours of the national tournament. Sanest Khanh Hoa scooped first place at the national junior volleyball clubs tournament, Hoa Lu Cup, and Hung Vuong Cup 2017.

Apart from the encouraging achievements, Khanh Hoa’s sports sector has still been facing many difficulties, such as backward regulations, inappropriate policies, and limited funds for sports activities and facilities. In the future, the province will focus on promoting the development of school sports, public sports; improving the training quality for young players, sports instructors; improving on regulations and policies.

On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day, Khanh Hoa held propaganda activities about sports; organized Olympic Running Day, joined by more than 10,000 participants; cooperated with Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation to hold the first International Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival; organized training classes for swimming coaches and collaborators at the units and localities, etc.
