Many surprises in first four rounds of V-League 2018

The first four rounds of V-League 2018 saw many surprise losses for strong teams to weaker ones. Additionally, the fact that the two medium teams, Sanna Khanh Hoa - Bien Vietnam (Sanna KH-BVN) and Xo so kien thiet Can Tho, ranked in top five teams after four rounds has made this year’s season unpredictable. 

 

The runner-up of V-League 2017 FLC Thanh Hoa’s suffered a shock 1-3 loss to Sanna KH-BVN in their first clash in this season, which could be considered as the biggest surprise of V-League in the last four rounds. Reportedly, head coach of FLC Thanh Hoa Mihal resigned after this game. 

 

Midfielder Quoc Chi starred with two goals for Sanna KH-BVN in the competition with FLC Thanh Hoa. This was also the first time Sanna KH-BVN has overcome FLC Thanh Hoa since joining V-League. This win helped the representative of Khanh Hoa to be third on the rankings.

 

 

Another surprise came from Xo so kien thiet Can Tho, a team without any stars and instructed by coach Dinh Hong Vinh, a new coach in V-League. Xo so kien thiet Can Tho played away game at Hai Phong’s stadium, beating the host which has been stronger than them, getting three points and placing fifth. 

 

At the end of the fourth round, Hanoi and Than Quang Ninh ranked first and second, respectively. The interesting thing is that the third, fourth and fifth positions were not occupied by the highly-evaluated teams like reigning champion Quang Nam, FLC Thanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City but the three teams which had only set target of not being relegated next season, namely Sanna KH-BVN, SHB Da Nang and Xo so kien thiet Can Tho.    

 

After the impressive result of Vietnam U23 at the AFC U23 Championship 2018, V-League 2018 is receiving much attention of football fans in Vietnam. V-League 2018 is expected to see more surprise results when the gulf between teams has been narrowed, which was proved in the last four rounds.
