A new swimming pool is under construction at Nha Trang Sports Training and Competing Center and is slated open in late October. This swimming pool will provide the children in the city more choice of places for learning swimming as well as promises to promote the swimming movement of Nha Trang.

As reported by Bao Tho, Director of Nha Trang Culture and Sports Center, the construction of the swimming pool and ancillary facilities, as a part of the target program on the prevention of drowning and water accidents among children from 2015 to 2020 of Nha Trang, started in April with a total investment of VND9.2 billion, covering an area of approximately 2,000 square meters. The pool will be equipped with facilities for organizing tournaments with roof, have eight lanes with a length of 25 meters and a width of 20 meters, a stand of about 100 seats, a changing area, and an area for referees. The new pool will be mainly used to teach the pupils of first and second grades in the city swimming skills, drowning prevention and water safety.

Reportedly, Nha Trang in 2013 started to open free summer swimming courses for the pupils in the city in order to reduce and prevent water accidents among children. Until now, there have been more than 2,000 pupils being taught basic swimming skills. Besides, a tournament has been often organized after each swimming class in order to create a useful playground for the learners; assess the quality of the course; and help to promote the swimming movement in the city. However, the Nha Trang Culture and Sports Center had no pool and had to hire pools to hold these tournaments. The new pool will help these after-course tournaments to be more conveniently organized.

Apart from the swimming classes opened within the drowning prevention program of the city, the Nha Trang Culture and Sports Center will open other swimming classes at the new pool with the tuition fees lower than other units (reduced by two-third). Reportedly, the tuition fees at the private swimming pools in Nha Trang has been from VND600 thousand to VND800 thousand per course of 12 sessions.
