K-League Cup DBS is just a tournament for amateur football players; however, it is joined by many athletes who are playing in the professional tournaments of Vietnam. Additionally, all matches are live broadcast on the tournament’s fanpage so that more football fans can watch the competitions.

The first edition of K-League Cup DBS was organized in 2017. The 2018 tournament is taking place at My Gia football pitch, attracting the participation of eight teams: DBS Khanh Hoa, Thanh Thanh, F-NH Nam Phuong, Hoa Mai Auto, Phuoc Son, Olympic NT Gym, C-CASA, MK Land.

Generally, with eight teams, the amateur tournaments have often been played in a single round robin format and taken place in around one week. However, at K-League Cup DBS, the participants play two rounds (July 28 – September 9, September 23 – November 4) in more than four months. The matches take place every Saturday and Sunday. The total prize value of the 2018 tournament is up to more than VND120 million. The champion will win a prize of VND50 million, which is considered a relatively large amount of money for a movement sports tournament.

It can be said that one of the factors helping this tournament to be successfully organized and be attractive is the participation of many professional players. Being allowed to play with professional players; therefore, most of the teams had tried to improve their squad to achieve the best result. For example, Olympic NT Gym recruited V-League players, Le Tan Tai (player of Becamex Binh Duong) and Dao Van Phong (member of Quang Nam). Hoa Mai Auto has been joined by Mai Thanh Dat, captain of Sanna Khanh Hoa futsal team. Meanwhile, Thanh Thanh takes part in this year’s tournament with the joining of quite many players who are playing in V-League.

As said by the organization committee, K-League Cup DBS allows professional players in order to increase the quality of the tournament; attract the participants and football supporters; create an opportunity for the amateur players to learn and exchange experience with the professional ones as well as help them to improve skills and behavior on the ground so that they can play in larger scale tournaments.
The fact that all matches are televised and reported live on the tournament’s fanpage to help the football lovers who cannot go to the pitch can watch the matches has also been rarely seen at a movement sports tournament.

Vo Ngoc Hung, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, highly appreciated the quality of K-League DBS. He said that the quality of this tournament is just behind the National Mini Football Tournament - Saigon Beer Cup or BIVINA Cup. The department has always provided favorable conditions and encouraged the organization of movement sports tournaments, especially football.
