Twelve men’s and four women’s clubs across the province gathered at Khanh Hoa Sports Competition Hall to compete for the championship of the province’s first basketball tournament. In men’s even, the clubs from Nha Trang made up two-thirds of the participating teams, including Nha Trang 1, Nha Trang 2, Tan Vinh Phuc Club, Granedes Club, Beast Club, and Nbc Club. Ninh Hoa Town, Cam Ranh City and Dien Khanh District had one team each. Two out of four teams in women’s event also came from Nha Trang.

Besides the overwhelming number of participants, Nha Trang’s players also performed better techniques. The clubs of Nha Trang were qualified for both men’s and women’s finals. Nha Trang has been considered as the pioneer in basketball movement in Khanh Hoa. The city has been maintaining the development of basketball movement better than other localities in the province. Since 2009 until now, each year, Nha Trang Cultural and Sports Center often organizes two or three basketball tournament for all age groups. The basketball was even included into the system of regular sports tournaments of the city. These activities partly explained the superiority of clubs from Nha Trang over the ones of other localities.
The final of men’s event at the first basketball club tournament of Khanh Hoa saw the competition of two teams from Nha Trang, which were Nha Trang 1 and Nha Trang 2. After a fairly attractive competition, Nha Trang 1 sealed a 43-34 win. Whereas, Nha Trang 2 overpowered Ninh Hoa in women’s final to win at 61-14.
Vo Ngoc Hung, Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, said in a statement that the tournament drew quite a lot participants and spectators in its first edition. The gulf between clubs from Nha Trang and other localities were still quite large. However, the successful organization of this tournament promised to promote the movement of this sport over the province and narrow this quality gulf.
