The International SHAH ALAM Volleyball Open Tournament 2019 organized by Malaysia Volleyball Federation saw the participation of eight teams, two teams of Indonesia, one of Taiwan, four of the host, and one of Vietnam. The representative from Vietnam went four games unbeaten in the group stage, quarter finals and semi-finals before losing to SHAH ALAM of Malaysia in the final match. Reportedly, the coaching committee of Sanest Khanh Hoa satisfied with the result of the team at this tournament. They had quality matches and gained experience playing with the strong teams of other countries.

In the group stage, Sanest Khanh Hoa had tense matches with Garuda Jakarta and Amalia of Indonesia. Indonesia is a country which has a good development of volleyball. Indonesia men’s national volleyball teams have also been very formidable opponent of Vietnamese national teams. At this tournament, the players of Sanest Khanh Hoa took advantage of the chances they created, which helped them to defeat their opponents.
In the final, Sanest Khanh Hoa took the lead in the first two sets with the scores of 25-16 and 25-22, but they dropped the next three and lost the trophy to SHAH ALAM. This final competition showed that SHAH ALAM carefully analyzed the strength of their opponent through the previous matches in order to play with effective tactic. This was a good experience Sanest Khanh Hoa learned from this match.
Sanest Khanh Hoa was offered a precious opportunity to play with strong teams of the region at an international tournament. However, according to Coach Thai Quang Lai, the players of Sanest Khanh Hoa did not have enough time to recover after playing six tense matches at the first stage of the Vietnam’s National Volleyball Championship and Hung Vuong Cup 2019. Having to play ten matches (domestic and international ones) in more than 15 days caused the players of Sanest Khanh Hoa not to have their best condition of health.
