They overcame strong domestic and foreign teams to claim the highest prize of the tournament.
The International Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament in Tam Ky was one the outstanding activities of Quang Nam Province to celebrate the Visit Vietnam Year 2019. The tournament was joined by 16 teams; among them were two teams from Thailand and Singapore and 14 teams from the localities across Vietnam, including Sanest-Sanna Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Thuan, Soc Trang, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Kien Giang, and Quang Nam.
At present, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City and Sanest-Sanna Khanh Hoa are the strongest beach volleyball team in Vietnam and have often been the strong favorites for the championship at the domestic tournaments. As said by Nguyen Cao Dong, coach of Sanest-Sanna Khanh Hoa, the standard of the 2019 International Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament was quite high. Thailand and Singapore sent their good players to the tournament. The pair from Thailand, who took part in the international competition in Quang Ninh Province some months ago, was the most formidable team.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s female beach volleyball team in general and Sanest-Sanna Khanh Hoa in particular often could not play well at the regional and continental tournaments or international friendlies. That was the reason why Sanest-Sanna Khanh Hoa and other domestic beach volleyball teams did not only aim for best prizes at this International Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament.
Nevertheless, the players of Sanest-Sanna Khanh Hoa performed exceptionally well at this tournament. Specifically, Nguyen Thi Mai and Nguyen Thi Thanh Tram defeated the pairs of Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City in the quarter-final and semi-final matches to enter the final one. Another pair of Khanh Hoa, Vu Ngoc Lan Nguyen and Nguyen Le Tuong Vy, also qualified for the final match after beating the pairs of Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City in the quarter-final and semi-final respectively. Thus, the final match was the competition between the two pairs of Khanh Hoa. Finally, young athletes Vu Ngoc Lan Nguyen and Nguyen Le Tuong Vy overcame their senior fellow countrywomen to achieve the gold medal.
Khanh Hoa’s athletes won the championship and second prize. Besides, Khanh Hoa’s player Nguyen Le Tuong Vy was named most excellent player of the tournament. These were encouraging results and will be a driving force for Khanh Hoa’s female beach volleyball team to keep striving for better achievements.
