The group stage of the National Beach Football Championship ended on July 21 with the competition between Gia Viet Quang Ninh and Olympic Gym & Fitness, Khanh Hoa and Da Nang. This year’s championship was joined by four teams as usual. Da Nang and Khanh Hoa are the favorite teams among the four. Olympic Gym & Fitness has been well-known in Khanh Hoa Province for its movement football, futsal, and beach football activities. Meanwhile, Gia Viet Quang Ninh is a rising team of amateur football movement in Quang Ninh Province. Being financed by sponsor Nguyen Thanh Viet, Gia Viet Quang Ninh performed quite impressively and contributed to the attraction of the 2019 championship.
In the opening day, Gia Viet Quang Ninh played well and got one point from Khanh Hoa after overcoming this team 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out. Also in the first day, Da Nang won Olympic Gym & Fitness 3-2. In theirs second matches, Khanh Hoa got three points with a 4-2 win against Olympic Gym & Fitness; Dang Nang still showed their power with a 6-2 win against Gia Viet Quang Ninh. This result made the competition for the first and second places of the group stage to be dramatic. Although Gia Viet Quang Ninh only had one point after two matches, they still had opportunity to reach the final if they won Olympic Gym & Fitness and Khanh Hoa was defeated by Da Dang in their third matches (July 21).

Gia Viet Quang Ninh had many quality players compared to Olympic Gym & Fitness, which had been regarded as the weakest team in this year’s championship. Tuan Anh of Gia Viet Quang Ninh was the former player of Khanh Hoa’s beach football team and the national team. However, the team of Quang Ninh Province could not show their best. Besides, Olympic Gym & Fitness played exceptionally well in the first and second half with four goals scored and one goal conceded. However, Gia Viet Quang Ninh made a comeback in the third, levelled the goals and finally won the penalty shootout. However, this result was not good enough to earn them a spot in the final. They only placed third in the group.
This also meant that whatever the result of the clash between Khanh Hoa and Da Nang in the last match of the group stage was, the two sides would be qualified for the final. Khanh Hoa and Da Nang compete for the championship on July 23.
