Eight Sanest Khanh Hoa members were recently called up for the national male volleyball team to gear up for the international tournaments, especially SEA Games 2019. Among the eight selected members is Coach Thai Quang Lai, who will be in charge of the national team in the upcoming international matches. This is regarded as recognition of the efforts and achievements of Khanh Hoa’s volleyball.
The seven players in the call-up list sent by Vietnam Volleyball Federation to Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Technique Training Center include Tu Thanh Thuan, Nguyen Dinh Nhu, Tran Chien Chieu, Tran Xuan Tan, Duong Van Tien, Huynh Trung Truc, and Nguyen Van Phong.
In the 2018 and 2019 season so far, Thai Quang Lai has well coached Sanest Khanh Hoa, helping the team to gain many good achievements in the domestic and international tournaments. Under the coach of Thai Quang Lai, Sanest Khanh Hoa qualified for the semi-final of the 2018 Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship held in Myanmar. That was also the first time a Vietnamese volleyball club has got through the semi-final of this tournament. Afterwards, Sanest Khanh Hoa continued to perform their good form at the large domestic tournaments such as Dam Ca Mau Cup, National Eighth Sports Festival, and Hung Vuong Cup, etc.

Since Thai Quang Lai assumed the position as Sanest Khanh Hoa head coach, the team’s line-up has not changed much. The most outstanding change this coach bringing to the team is the tactic and play style. He has used a fast build up play style and encouraged the players to maximize their potentials. Sanest Khanh Hoa used to depend much on the attack ability of outside hitter Ngo Van Kieu, which was not effective with some opponents. The new tactic of Thai Quang Lai has proven its effectiveness through the team’s recent tournaments. Sanest Khanh Hoa is now a strong collective in the domestic volleyball field.
The ability and achievements as a coach of Thai Quang Lai has been recognized by VVietnam Volleyball Federation. He is now coaching Vietnam U23 at the ongoing 2019 Asian Men’s U23 Championship in Myanmar. The national U23 team at this tournament also comprises of five players of Sanest Khanh Hoa, who are Quoc Doan, Thanh Phuong, Quoc Thien, Minh Khuyen, and Gia Huy.
After the Asian Men’s U23 Championship 2019, Thai Quang Lai and Vietnam’s national team will gear up for the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship and SEA Games 30.
