The 2019 edition of the international football contest for former players took place recently the 19-8 Nha Trang Stadium and Nha Trang Sports Training and Competing Center (Thi Sach Street). The contest left a good impression on the spectators with exciting competitions.
The 2019 edition of the international football contest for former players took place recently the 19-8 Nha Trang Stadium and Nha Trang Sports Training and Competing Center (Thi Sach Street). The contest left a good impression on the spectators with exciting competitions.
The contest took place from September 3 to 7 and was played by six teams from Vietnam and two other countries, including A&T Nha Trang, northern Vietnam, G&P Saigon, SFA Thailand, Thailand Port, and Iran. This was the first participation of Iran in this contest. The 2019 contest was jointly organized by Thanh Thanh Travel, Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports and Vietnam Football Federation. The participating teams play in a round robin format to decide the champion in stead of playing in different tables like the previous contest. Accordingly, at this year’s contest, each team played five matches in total.

Vietnam maintained the number of teams at the 2019 contest, namely A&T Nha Trang, northern Vietnam, G&P Saigon. A&T Nha Trang was the 2018 runner-up; they played the 2019 contest with former outstanding athletes of Khanh Hoa Province such as Dang Dao, Cao Sy Cuong, and Hoang Duc. Northern Vietnam included Vu Minh Hieu, Dang Phuong Nam, Nguyen Duc Thang, and Vu Cong Tuyen, etc., who were the former excellent players of The Cong and Hanoi Police team. Thailand and Thailand Port had Chukiat Noosalung, Issawa Singthong, etc.
In last year’s contest, Thailand Port and A&T Nha Trang were the championship and runner-up. However, this year, they faced a strong opponent from the Middle East, Iran. Iran made their debut at this contest with impressive results. They had four consecutive wins against G&P Saigon, SFA Thailand, northern Vietnam, and A&T Nha Trang and finally defeated Thailand Port in the final match, winning the 2019 contest with 23 goals scored throughout the contest.
This international football contest could be regarded as a meaningful playground for the former football players of the participating countries. They had a chance to meet, play with each other and also looked back on their apex. The contest was also an opportunity to introduce the tourism of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa to people in and outside the country.
