Thousands of football supporters went to 19-8 Nha Trang Stadium to cheer for their favorite teams, who have been struggling to earn points in the relegation battle. The fact that Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Viettel (who were ranking at 11th and 10th positions respectively) won against their opponents piled pressure onto S.KH-BVN (who was sitting bottom) and DNH.ND. Therefore, the match in round 24 was a crucial one for both teams. The host could have scored two more goals if their players had taken full advantage of their chances.

In the first half, the ball was mostly played in the midfield. Both the host and the visitor made many attacks to the opposing goal. However, the wet surface of the pitch due to rain caused some difficulties to the players when moving, passing and striking. The deadlock was broken in the last minute of the first half. Naturalized player Nguyen Trung Dai Duong made a score from outside the box, giving the host S.KH-BVN a 1-0 lead before the break.

In the second half, the visitor pressed forward in search for an equalizer. However, they conceded a penalty in the 57th minute with a foul on Zarour Chaher inside the penalty area. S.KH-BVN played better towards the end of the match. They extended the lead to 3-0 in the 63rd minute with a header from Patiyo, who had been well assisted by Dai Duong and Tan Dien. DNH.ND had two good chances of scoring from a direct free kick and a penalty. However, the marvelous form of goalkeeper Tuan Manh gave the visiting strikers no chance.

V-League 1 will take a break for nearly one month for the 2020 World Cup qualification. S.KH-BVN will play their 25th round match against Saigon (who is sitting at 8th position) at their home ground on October 19. Hopefully, the host will take all three points from this critical relegation clash.
