This national seven-a-side football tournament is the expanded edition of Hanoi Premier League. The first nation-level tournament, comprising qualification round and final round held in the northern, central and southern regions, is capturing the attention and interest of not only amateur football teams but also supporters. Through expanding the scale of tournament to national level, the organization board wants to contribute to the development of amateur football as well as help to build up a good foundation for football in Vietnam.

At present, 12 teams of the northern region and 10 teams of the southern region are playing the elimination round in Hanoi (HPL-S7) and Ho Chi Minh City (SPL-S1) respectively. The tournament of the central region KPL-S1 will kick off in Nha Trang on November 2. KPL-S1 will see the competition of eight teams: Thanh Thanh, Nam Phuong Khanh Hoa, Le Bao Minh, Song Lam Nghe An, Thai Duong Real Estate, Olympic Gym, Sao Viet Ninh Thuan, and Van Tin.

The central region’s teams will compete in a single round robin format in two groups to decide two best teams from each group for the semi-final and final rounds. The winner will qualify for the national finals with the qualifiers from HPL-S7 (two teams) and SPL-S1 (one team). The national final round will take place in Hanoi on December 21 and 22.

Thanh Thanh is a strong team of amateur football in Khanh Hoa and is regarded as a favorite for the championship of KPL-S1. Thanh Thanh is also the title holder of K-League 2018. In order to prepare for KPL-S1, besides existing players, the team recruited some players who are playing in V-League. The other teams of Khanh Hoa and teams of other provinces have also practiced hard for the competition and are trying to have the joining of V-League players.
