In 13 years, Thai Son Nam has dominated the national futsal championship with eight times winning the championship. Meanwhile, SV.SKH (earlier known as Sanna Khanh Hoa) has only gained the trophy one time and finished second or third for some times. In the national futsal cup, which was first held in 2015, Thai Son Nam has also proved their dominance, winning three editions. SV.SKH got third place in 2016 and second place in 2018. These encouraging results can be regarded as a driving force for the two representatives of Khanh Hoa’s futsal to overthrow Thai Son Nam at this year’s edition of the national futsal cup.

The National Futsal Cup – HDBank 2019 is divided into two stages. The first stage includes five teams namely SV.SKH, Cao Bang, Thai Son Bac, Quang Nam, and Tan Hiep Hung. In this stage, the teams play in a single round robin format; the top three teams will enter the second stage. These three teams will join four best teams at the national futsal championship (Thai Son Nam, SV.SKH, Kadiachain Saigon FC, Da Nang) and the host team SHK Nghe An.
SV.STKH has already qualified for the second stage as one of the best teams of the national futsal championship. However, SV.SKH has to battle with four teams for a slot to the next stage. Five years ago, it was not difficult for SV.SKH to play against Thai Son Bac, Tan Hiep Hung or Quang Nam. They had quality players such as Khac Chi, Van Thanh, Thanh Dat, and Nguyen Nho who were playing in their best form. Nevertheless, SV.SKH is experiencing the challenge of finding connection between senior players and young ones. In the recent two seasons, SV.SKH has struggled competing for a place among top positions at the national championship.
Prior to the National Futsal Cup – HDBank 2019, SV.SKH played quite many matches held in Nha Trang. The team’s players were allowed to join amateur teams at the central region elimination of the national seven-a-side football championship. Hopefully, the competitions and experience gather from that tournament, SV.S.KH can go far at this year’s national cup.
