Coach Le Van Tu of Khanh Hoa was then sanctioned with a two-year suspension.
That incident not only hurt Khanh Hoa’s beach football supporters but also caused the team members to lose their positions in the national beach football squad. Only two players of Khanh Hoa, namely striker Tran Vinh Phong and goalkeeper Nguyen Anh Quang, were called for the national squad playing at the AFF Beach Soccer Championship organized in Thailand at the end of 2019.

Entering 2020 season, Khanh Hoa’s beach football team is facing many difficulties and challenges. However, their fans are hoping they can lift spirit during this tough time and make strong comeback. Coach Tran Vinh Phong has been named Khanh Hoa’s beach football team after coach Le Van Tu was disciplined. This young coach (born in 1989) is expected to bring a new fresh air to Khanh Hoa’s beach football.
Tran Vinh Phong has not been a new name to many beach football fans in Vietnam. Before joining Khanh Hoa, he used to be an excellent striker of Thuan An-Hue beach football team and has been a member of the national beach football team since 2014. Phong has been well-known for his enthusiastic energy on beach football grounds and his back volley goals. In his career of a player, he came in second place at an AFF tournament in 2014, fourth place at an Asian tournament in 2015, and championship at AFF Beach Soccer Championship in 2018 (at national level); was named top goal scorer and best player at the national championship in 2017 and 2018 (in the jersey of Sanest Khanh Hoa).
Khanh Hoa is still among the best beach football teams in Vietnam with six national championships since 2009. Since taking over at the Khanh Hoa, coach Tran Vinh Phong has recruited many young players to prepare for the 2020 season. Due to the suspension of all professional and national sports tournament amid the outbreak of coronavirus, Khanh Hoa’s beach football players cannot gather and are only doing some practice at home to maintain physical strength and form, waiting for their comeback.
