Taking part in the contest were 26 outstanding chess players in Khanh Hoa. The players competed in a 5-game format, Swiss system. The three most excellent players have been given financial support of VND2-4 million/month for training and competition in two months of the second quarter. All funding for the contest and its prizes are sponsored by people who love Chinese chess in Khanh Hoa.

This was the first time Ky Huu Nha Trang Chinese Chess Club and Khanh Hoa Provincial Chinese Chess Association had jointly held the selective contest. Through this contest, organizers would select excellent players for the provincial Chinese chess team.
