This is the second time in a row it has been held in Nha Trang City. The 2020 championship is expected to be more exciting and competitive with the first participation of a team from highland region.
Vietnam’s National Futsal HDBank Championship 2020 is going to kick off after a hiatus to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The championship’s preliminary round will be played at Nha Trang University. This is the second time in a row it has been held in Nha Trang City. The 2020 championship is expected to be more exciting and competitive with the first participation of a team from highland region.
As of now, all preparations for the championship are completion. Vietnam Football Federation in association with The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) held a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on May 26 to announce the sponsors and regulations of the championship. HDBank continues to be the main sponsor of the 2020 national futsal championship. The other sponsors are Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company, Dong Luc Group, VietJet Air, etc. On May 30, the organization committee and leaders of the participating teams have a technical discussion and make the draw. The host Sanvinest Sanna Khanh Hoa will play the opening game of the 2020 edition.
The organizers of the 2020 National Futsal HDBank Championship continue to choose the multifunctional sports arena of Nha Trang University to be the venue for the preliminary round (stage 1) and first leg of stage 2 of the 2020 edition thanks to its successful organization last year. Accordingly, football fans in Nha Trang can watch live competitions in more than one month. The leadership of Nha Trang University consider this as an honor as well as a driving force to promote the university’ sports movement, especially football. Therefore, the university will create favorable conditions for the matches to take place safely and ensure study conditions for students.
During the time of the 2020 National Futsal HDBank Championship, Nha Trang University will hold a sports contest for students of universities and colleges in Khanh Hoa Province and surrounding provinces and cities, which is scheduled from June 14 to July 15.
Teams taking part in this year’s championship is familiar ones at the previous championships namely Sanvinest Sanna Khanh Hoa, Tan Hiep Hung, Cao Bang, Quang Nam, Vietfootball. Additionally, the contest will feature Hung Gia Khang Dak Lak, a movement sports team of a well-know real estate business in Dak Lak Province, established at the end of 2019. Reportedly, this team has some players who used to be trained by Thai Son Nam, a strong futsal club in Vietnam. The participation of this new face promises to bring exciting results to the 2020 championship.
The preliminary round has a single round robin format. Six teams will compete for points to decide four teams qualifying for the stage 2. After claiming the championship title in 2015, Sanvinest Sanna Khanh Hoa started to rejuvenate the team by bring in some young players. However, Khanh Hoa’s futsal representative team has faced many difficulties during its rejuvenating process due to lack of source of players and opportunities for their young players to play and learn experience. In recent three years, Sanvinest Sanna Khanh Hoa often played well in the early stages but flagged down and struggled for top six towards the end of tournaments.
Hopefully, coach Dang Dinh Khang and his players will take full advantage of playing at home to achieve a desired result at this year’s championship.
