Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football (VPF) recently finalized the schedules for the national professional tournaments V.League 1 and V.League 2 for the rest of the 2020 season. Sanna Khanh Hoa-Bien Vietnam (Sanna KH-BVN) has lately had a training course for the new V.League 2 season, which is expected to be an uneasy one.
Recently, VFF, VPF and their member teams agreed that Vietnam’s professional football leagues 2020 would return in early June with an unprecedented plan. Accordingly, V.League 1 will include two stages, starting on June 5 and ending on October 25. The first stage will be played in a single round robin format with 13 rounds as before; the second stage includes two groups, A and B. Group A consists of eight teams on the upper half of the table while group B includes six teams on the lower half. Group A teams compete for championship title; group B teams compete to decide ranks from 9th to 14th. This season will see only one team being relegated to lower league instead of 1.5 team as the previous seasons. Similarly, V.League 2 will be divided into two stages and include two groups like V.League 1, starting on June 6 and ending on September 26.
AFF also agreed on the regulation about the number of substitutes used in a game. Specifically, a maximum of five substitutes is permitted within three substitutions during a game of the national professional football tournaments, in accordance with FIFA’s Law 3. The games will be played with or without spectators depending on country’s official regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.
According to a VFF member, V.League 1 teams are worrying about scoring method when the tournament returns on June 5 because V.League 1 had been played for two rounds before the outbreak of COVID-19. It has been suggested that the previous points should be cancelled and that team’s points will be recalculated from the beginning. However, VFF and VPF are likely to allow teams to retain their past points.
Like other clubs, Sanna KH-BVN is actively practicing to prepare for the new season with predictable difficulties. Sanna KH-BVN is going to play the National Cup qualifying match with Viettel at home at 19-8 Nha Trang Stadium in May before entering the first round of V.League 2 on June 6. In order to prepare for the upcoming tournaments, the team played two friendly games with Lam Dong on May 12 and 14, winning one and losing one. Reportedly, Sanna KH-BVN is facing several difficulties of lacking quality in many positions such as midfield. Recently, quality goalkeeper Tuan Manh left Sanna KH-BVN after five years playing for the team. Besides, some other players of Sanna KH-BVN are going to be out of contract and are receiving offers from other clubs. Additionally, in the 2020 season, there is only one team to be promoted to V.League 1 next season. Meanwhile, opponent teams of Sanna KH-BVN in V.Leauge 1 this year, namely Binh Dinh, Can Tho, Long An, etc., have been well invested for this sole promotion slot.
