The table tennis movement of table tennis clubs in Khanh Hoa Province has been showing some signs of revival, which was partly shown in the recent provincial table tennis club tournament.
Khanh Hoa’s table tennis club tournament 2020 took place from July 24 to 27, joined by more than 200 players from 14 clubs and localities over the province. Huynh De, Phuoc Tien, Lac Hong, Huu Tri, Nha Trang, BIDV Bank – Khanh Hoa Branch were among the teams which often took part in the editions of the tournament. Table tennis club tournament is one of the major movement table tennis tournaments of Khanh Hoa; therefore, many clubs and localities often field their representatives and prepare well for the tournament.
In the 2020 edition of Khanh Hoa’s table tennis club tournament, the clubs with a relatively large number of players were Nha Trang (nine males and nine females); DKQ (nine males and nine females); Phuong Son (nine males and seven females); Cam Ranh, PPG and BIDV Bank (each has seven males and four females). This year’s tournament drew the participation of all strong players of movement table tennis in Khanh Hoa; many of them were the players of DKQ Club and BIDV Bank, etc.

In the past, Nha Trang was always the strongest team at the movement table tennis tournaments in Khanh Hoa. They had the largest number of players, whose skills were quite good. From 2017 to 2019, Nha Trang always achieved high positions on the rankings, especially in the events of individuals, mixed doubles and whole team.
However, over the past one year, the appearance of more and more table tennis clubs under the training of well-known coaches of the country has made some changes to the rankings of table tennis clubs over the province. For example, the 2020 tournament saw fierce competitions for medals between teams, and Nha Trang lost their superior position. DKQ Club under the instruction of Doan Kien Quoc, head coach of the national table tennis team, overcame Nha Trang to win the whole-team first place with 14 medals in 16 events. DKQ players dominated men’s individual aged 16-19 with gold and silver medals. They also won golds in mixed doubles, men’s team, and women’s team. Nha Trang finished second with three gold medals, five silver medals, and one bronze medal.
Apart from DKQ Club, the 2020 edition of Khanh Hoa’s table tennis club tournament saw the noticeable development of PPG and BIDV Bank. PPG was formed in early 2020 and has more than 30 regular players. They sent some of their players to the 2020 tournament to learn experience. In the first time of participation, they defeated stronger opponents from DKQ Club in men’s doubles final to win gold.
