Vietnam Professional Football (VPF) in the afternoon of July 26 announced the suspension of the 2020 V-League 1 and V-League 2 after two residents in Da Nang City were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
This is the third suspension of the 2020 V-League due to COVID-19. This year’s V-League 1 has finished 11 rounds with Saigon FC topping the table.
Due to the shortened season, VPF changed the format of the 2020 V-League 1. Accordingly, 14 teams play a single round robin format to decide a group of top eight teams and a group of six lower-ranked teams. Only one team will be relegated to V-League 2 instead 1.5 teams like the previous seasons. Each team can replace five players within three substitutions in a match.
