Through the performances of the participating teams in their first match, it could be said that the teams had carefully prepared to compete for this year’s KPL-S2 championship and the ticket to the final round of the national stage (VPL-S2).
Last weekend, the first matches of the 2020 KPL-S2 took place at the artificial turf field of Nha Trang University. Taking part in the central region stage are six strong movement football teams of Khanh Hoa Province (Thanh Thanh Club, Olympic Gym Club, C-Casa FC, Nam Phuong Khanh Hoa, Tuan Huong, Dong De Khanh Hoa) and two from the provinces of Phu Yen and Lam Dong.
According to Pham Ngoc Tuan, general director of Viet Football Joint Stock Company (Vietfootball), the 2020 KPL-S2 promises to be more exciting thanks to the change of competition format. Specifically, the organization committee had decided to expand the tournament’s scale to League format (single-round robin format). Thanks to this change, the number of matches is increased.

In last year’s KPL-S1, Thanh Thanh FC was the pride of Khanh Hoa’s movement seven-a-side football. Coach Tran Phuc Thao led Thanh Thanh FC to the KPL-S1 championship and the final round VPL-S1. The team from the coastal province surprised the opponents from the southern and northern regions, where seven-a-side football movement develops strongly, when they made through to the final match and finally secured the second place. That achievement is a driving force for Thanh Thanh FC and also an inspiration for other teams in this year’s KPL-S2 to aim for higher targets.
In order to defend their championship, Coach Tran Phuc Thao, who is also the deputy director of Thanh Thanh Trading and Tourist Co., Ltd., enhanced the force of Thanh Thanh FC with the recruitment of many quality players. Meanwhile, Olympic Gym are also showing their high determination in this year’s KPL-S2 with the joining of many professional and amateur players, for example Le Tan Tai (playing for Hanoi FC in V-League 1); Tran Trong Binh and Dinh Kha (playing for Sanna Khanh Hoa-Bien Vietnam in V-League 2), etc.
Other teams such as C-CASA, Nam Phuong, Tuan Huong, and Dong De Khanh Hoa also have good preparation for the tournament with many quality names of Khanh Hoa futsal joining them, such as Mai Thanh Dat, Phan Khac Chi, Nguyen Dinh Y Hoa, Kon So My Ser, and Ho Van Tu. In addition, two teams from Phu Yen and Lam Dong with their own investment are expected to contribute to the excitement of the 2020 KPL-S2.
KPL-S2 is scheduled to be played at 2pm every Saturday.
