Last weekend, the make-up matches of round 3 of the 2021 LS V.Leauge 1 were played at different stadiums in the country. Some teams started to restore their good form.

The results of the matches in round 3 (taking place on March 14 and 15) put many teams close to each other on the rankings. On the top half of the table, except for SHB Da Nang, who showed superior with three consecutive wins and nine points, five other teams ended the round with the same points of six. Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Than Quang Ninh just joined the group of leading teams after getting three points at home. At Cam Pha Stadium, the hosts Than Quang Ninh overcame an ambitious and well-invested Ho Chi Minh City 2-0. This win lifted Than Quang Ninh to second behind SHB Da Nang on the table.

At Pleiku Stadium, Hoang Anh Gia Lai repaid the support of their fans with a 2-1 win against Topenland Binh Dinh. In the first half, two goals of Van Toan and Brandao made into Topenland Binh Dinh's net in less than two minutes showed the attacking power of Hoang Anh Gia Lai. Rookies Topenland Binh Dinh also displayed an impressive play. They reduced the deficit to 1-2 and put the home side’s defensive line into troubles many times.

The third round also witnessed two wins of V.League 2020 defending champions Viettel and runners-up Hanoi. These two teams seemed to restore their good form. At Hang Day Stadium, the hosts Viettel played at a slow pace for most of the early part of the match with Becamex Binh Duong. Viettel had an opening goal scored by Que Ngoc Hai, but a few minutes later, Tien Linh of Becamex Binh Duong answered with an equalizer. Viettel unexpectedly had their second when Becamex Binh Duong goalkeeper passed the ball right to Pedro Paulo of Viettel, who then struck it into the net. In the last minutes of the match, Venancio Caique scored the winning goal for Viettel. This victory helped Viettel temporarily place 8th on the table.

Meanwhile, visitors Hanoi earned their first win this season. Two goals of Hung Dung and Ngan Van Dai helped the capital team defeat the hosts Hai Phong 2-0 at Lach Tray Stadium. Hanoi is currently sitting at number 12.

With these results, round 4 taking place from March 18 to 20 promises to be more interesting with likely changes from the top positions.
