The development of beach volleyball movement of the localities in Khanh Hoa Province was reflected at the recent provincial beach volleyball tournament, an event of the province's 9th Sports Festival.
The development of beach volleyball movement of the localities in Khanh Hoa Province was reflected at the recent provincial beach volleyball tournament, an event of the province’s 9th Sports Festival.
After the authorities allowed the resumption of some activities which had been halted due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the participating teams of the provincial beach volleyball tournament only had more than 10 days to prepare for the tournament. The success of the tournament which was organized in compliance with the pandemic regulations proved the efforts of the organization board and teams. The quality of this year’s tournament has been highly evaluated.

The tournament was participated by 18 pairs of athletes (two pairs more than the tournament in 2017). 13 male pairs and five female pairs were from Nha Trang City, Cam Lam District, Cam Ranh City, Khanh Son District, Dien Khanh District, Van Ninh District, Ninh Hoa Town.
In men’s event, 13 pairs of athletes were split into four groups and competed in a single round-robin format to decide four first-placed pairs of the groups for the semi-finals. Five pairs of female athletes also played in a single round-robin format to decide the championships. After two match days, the male pairs of Ninh Hoa 1 and Dien Khanh 1 qualified for the final match. Ninh Hoa 1 beat Dien Khanh 1 2-0, winning the gold medal. Four years ago, the two sides also faced each other in the final match where Dien Khanh won the championship after defeated Ninh Hoa in the final match.
In women’s event, Nha Trang pair of athlete, Vo Anh Tuyet and Le Hoai Anh, continued to show their strength. They successfully defended their title which they obtained in last year’s tournament. This year’s tournament also marked the noticeable progress of the beach volleyball movement of Khanh Son, a mountainous area. Khanh Son’s pair, Tran Thanh Thuy and Le Thi Anh Van, overcame the pairs of Cam Lam, Ninh Hoa, and Nha Trang 1 to win the silver medal. Especially, this was the first time athlete Tran Thanh Thuy of Khanh Son has joined the beach volleyball tournament of the provincial sports festival. As said by Thuy, the beach volleyball movement in Khanh Son is developing strongly. The district has built a beach volleyball field to boost the movement of this sport in the locality.
