Sanest Khanh Hoa volleyball team has prepared carefully for the second round of Bamboo Airways National Volleyball Championships 2021 even though they are facing many difficulties such as lacking a practicing place and having not gathered enough athletes.
Vietnam Volleyball Federation has recently announced the venue and fixtures of the second round of Bamboo Airways National Volleyball Championships 2021 finals. Accordingly, the tournament will still take place in Quang Nam Province (Group C) and Dak Nong Province (Group D) between December 14 and 25. All 20 male and female teams will compete in a single round-robin format. After the second round, the whole points of teams will be added to decide their position on the point rankings. The four teams from the first to fourth on the rankings will advance to the final round. The first-placed team will play the fourth-placed; the second-placed team will meet the third-placed in the semi-finals. The teams ranking from the seventh to tenth will compete with each other to decide the relegated team. The fifth-placed and sixth-placed teams will remain in their position.
After the first round, Sanest Khanh Hoa are first on the rankings with ten points, followed by Trang An Ninh Binh (nine points), The Cong (nine points), Ha Tinh and Ho Chi Minh City (eight points), and Ben Tre (zero points). Although Sanest Khanh Hoa are at an advantage in the race for the top four positions, they are facing some big challenges. Some of their athletes who have also been the members of the national team haven’t joined the team yet. Some athletes haven’t been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have got only one shot. Some athletes are living in COVID-19 red or yellow areas.
As said by Thai Quang Lai, head coach of Sanest Khanh Hoa, the team has planned to ask for permission from the leadership of the team and local authorities to get their athlete Tu Thanh Thuan from Tien Giang Province to Khanh Hoa. The team will assure the pandemic regulations on traveling and health quarantine of Tu Thanh Thuan.
Sanest Khanh Hoa athletes still cannot practice on the indoor ground of the provincial Sports Technique Training Center, which is being used for COVID-19 prevention and control work. The athletes can practice at the center around about the first week of November after the place is fully disinfected.
Reportedly, most of the other teams have also shared the same difficulties. Only two out of ten male teams, namely The Cong and Trang An Ninh Binh, can maintain regular practice sessions.
