The ceremony to mark Olympic Day for Children and mobilize all people to practice swimming to prevent drowning took place at Nha Trang Sports Training and Competition Center on June 30 afternoon. Present at the event were Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; leaderships of the provincial departments, sectors, industries, and localities; and 1,500 young people and pupils from 27 communes and wards in Nha Trang City.

In 2021, Khanh Hoa had 15 cases of child death due to drowning out of a total of 22 child death due to accidental injuries, accounting for 68.18%. It is necessary to create more useful playgrounds for children to learn and practice swimming to prevent drowning and improve their health, fitness, and stature.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dinh Van Thieu said that families, provincial departments and sectors, unions, schools and localities should cooperate and create more favorable conditions to organize recreational and sports activities for children; focus on life skills training for children; promote propaganda activities on protecting, taking care of and educating children, etc.
