The first activity to welcome Lunar New Year 2023 was the 27th Unicorn-Lion-Dragon Dance Contest of Nha Trang City, taking place from January 6 to 8, joined by 27 localities in the city. The contest was not only an opportunity for the unicorn-lion-dragon dance clubs to perform their skills but also for locals and tourists to enjoy the beauty of unicorn-lion-dragon dance. The teams performed 37 performances at Nha Trang City Center of Sports Practice and Competition (12 Thi Sach Street) on rainy days and at 2-4 Square on sunny days.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Center of Culture and Cinema holds a human chess competition at 2-4 Square from January 25 to 27 (lunar January 4 to 6). This is an annual exciting Tet activity for people who like Chinese chess. The activity aims to introduce domestic and international tourists the beauty of the traditional culture of Khanh Hoa in particular and Vietnam in general.
On the occasion of Tet 2023, Ninh Hoa Town has also planned to hold many cultural and sports activities, such as hip-hop dance festival for Youth Union members and students of high schools and Center for Continuing Education and Career Guidance on January 17; unicorn-lion-dragon dance festival on January 18-19; sports festival for morning exercise clubs on January 27; flower boat festival and boat race on Dinh River on January 29; and human chess competition on January 31. This is the fourth flower boat festival and Dinh River boat race of Ninh Hoa Town. The previous ones took place in 2015, 2016, and 2016. The town intends to make it an annual activity and a new tourism product for tourists in and outside the country.
Other localities such as Cam Ranh City, Cam Lam District, Van Ninh District, Dien Khanh District, Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh District will also organize many activities for local people on Tet holidays.
