Over 180 players join 1st Vovinam Tournament of Central Region in 2023

The Sports Authority of Vietnam - Vovinam Delegation and Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports organized the opening ceremony of the first Vovinam Tournament of Central Region in 2023 at Khanh Hoa’s sports arena. Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and the representatives of Vovinam Federation of the provinces and cities in the central region attended the ceremony.

The tournament is joined by more than 180 players of 11 teams from the provinces and cities of Khanh Hoa, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Quang Nam, Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Gia Lai, Ninh Thuan. The players are split into two age groups (12 - 15 years old and 16 - 30 years old) and compete in seven men’s weight categories (from over 36kg - 60kg) and 6 women’s weight categories (from over 33kg - 54kg) in the categories of combat and demonstration.

On the first match day, the players competed in an event of demonstration category. Finally, Khanh Hoa won gold medal; Quang Ngai secured silver medal; Thua Thien-Hue got bronze medal. 

The tournament ends on August 27.
