Thai Son Nam win HDBank National Futsal 2023

Thai Son Nam claimed HDBank National Futsal 2023 championship following a 1-1 draw with GFDI Song Han in the final round (round 14). This was the 12th time Thai Son Nam have won the championship title.

The last four matches of HDBank National Futsal 2023 took place at District 8 Sports Arena (Ho Chi Minh City) and My Dinh Athletics Arena (Hanoi) last week. The last round saw the competition for the championship between Thai Son Nam and Sahako. Before round 14, Thai Son Nam were leading the table with 29 points, 3 points clear off Sahako. Thai Son Nam had had more advantage to win the title compared to Sahako as in the final round they needed only a draw against weaker opponents, GFDI Song Han, to obtain the championship regardless of the results of other matches. Meanwhile, the chance for Sahako was narrower. They would overcome Thai Son Nam on tiebreakers to defend the championship if they won Hanoi with sufficient goal difference and Thai Son Nam lost to GFDI Song Han.

Thai Son Nam had been much stronger than GFDI Song Han, but in the final round, the latter were the ones scoring the opener in the 39th minute. The 1-0 score even remained unchanged to the last minutes of the game. In the simultaneous game, Sahako thrashed Hanoi 8-3, which meant that Sahako would lift the triumph if the game between Thai Son Nam and GFDI Song Han ended 1-0. In the last minute of the game, Thai Son Nam with the skills and spirit of 11-time champions and many national team members in the line-up found the leveler in the last seconds. Thai Son Nam were the only team in this year's tournament unbeaten with 8 wins and 6 draws. Thai Son Nam players also secured prizes for the tournament’s best player and best goalkeeper.

In the same match day, Sanvinest Khanh Hoa defeated Tan Hiep Hung 4-0 to end the season in the fourth position on 21 points. They were also given fair-play prize. Minh Tuan of Sanvinest Khanh Hoa was the top scorer. Thai Son Bac finished third with 26 points.
