Khanh Hoa Province’s karate team won 3 gold medals and 3 bronze medals in the age categories of under 12 to 14 in the recent 23rd National Club Karate Championships, ranking 12th among 61 clubs, provinces, cities and sectors nationwide. This was an encouraging result for the promising young athletes of Khanh Hoa’s karate.

The 23rd National Club Karate Championships taking place in Dak Lak Province from August 16 to 22 had high quality and the largest number of athletes so far with 1,020 participants from 61 clubs, provinces, cities and sectors nationwide. The athletes competed for 85 sets of medals in kata and kumite events in age categories of 10-11, 12-14, 15-17, over 18 and over 35 years old. 25 athletes of Khanh Hoa competed in 3 age categories of 10-11, 12-14 and 15-17 in weight classes of 40-59kg.
The competition level of the tournament was high thanks to the participation of many excellent athletes from over the country. The target of Khanh Hoa’s team in this tournament was gaining competition experience and achieving 1 gold medal. Therefore, 3 golds and 3 bronzes were an exciting result for the team.
Among the medal winners of Khanh Hoa this time, female athlete Huynh Le Tuong Anh (born in 2010, weight category of 56kg) and male athlete Dinh Thanh Hieu (born in 2009, weight category of 40kg) performed excellently, overcoming strong opponents of Binh Duong, Hanoi and Army to win gold medals. Earlier, Huynh Le Tuong Anh contributed to the gold medal in team event and the 5th position of Khanh Hoa out of 37 participating teams in the 2023 National Youth Karate Championships. As for young athlete Dinh Thanh Hieu, he made an impressive debut in his first national tournament with a gold medal.
According to Nguyen Minh Dat, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Technique Training Center, right after the 9th National Sports Festival in 2022, the center made an investment orientation for the province’s promising sports, including karate, muay Thai, taekwondo, and traditional martial arts to prepare for the next festival. The provincial karate athletes, especially young ones, have been showing progress and gained some positive results.
