Marathon-mountain climbing competition to take place in Khanh Hoa on October 1

Khanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union is cooperating with some units and businesses to organize a marathon-mountain climbing competition under the theme "For a green environment" to promote tourism and raise environment awareness. Khanh Hoa Newspaper recently had an interview with Tran Anh Tuan, secretary of the Provincial Youth Union about this activity.

- Could you please provide some information about the competition?

- Following the success of "Run to Future" Half Marathon held in June 2023, the Provincial Youth Union is cooperating with Vera Media Co. Ltd., Sky Entertainment and Media Co. Ltd., and the sponsor Nha Trang-Da Lat Style tourist site to organize a marathon-mountain climbing competition in Cau Ba Commune (Khanh Vinh District). This is the first marathon-mountain climbing competition held in the mountainous district of Khanh Vinh.

The competition is estimated to attract over 500 participants and is intended to take place annually to promote tourism, especially green tourism, and form a public habit of protecting environment. The competition also aims to create a useful playground for people who love running. Besides the main activity, the competition also comprises of other activities such as planting more than 1,000 trees and exchanges between athletes.

- What is the format of the competition and conditions of admission for participants?

- The competition has two distances of 5km and 10km and two events of movement and competition. The movement event is open to the representatives, Youth Union members and other citizens; free of charge; and has the maximum distance of 5km. Athletes participating in the competition event are all citizens aged 7 years or older (athletes under 18 years old are required parents’ or guardians’ consent). The competition event offers two levels of ticket price (regular and special prices) with the lowest price for 5km and 10km being VND250,000. Regular prices include participation insurance, racekit (race shirt and registration number), and medals upon finishing the competition. In addition to these things, special price (VND600,000) includes a gala dinner and accommodation. The athletes participating in the competition event achieving the highest results according to the competition’s regulations will be given cash prizes and gifts by the organization board.

- How has the preparation progressed so far? 

- Registration is open until September 27. The organization board has also conducted surveys and worked out the routes. The competition is expected to be a practical activity of youth in raising public awareness of environmental protection; promoting physical and sports movement among young people and other citizens in the province; and promoting the beautiful images of Khanh Hoa.
