The first edition of Khanh Hoa Province’s Yoga Club Open Tournament - South Central Region taking place at Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Arena recently received positive reviews for its scale and quality. This is expected to facilitate the development of yoga movement.

The tournament was well responded by yoga federations of many localities in the countries and sponsors. Specifically, it attracted the participation of over 100 male and female yogis of 9 teams from the provinces and cities of Quang Ngai, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Phu Yen, Binh Duong and Khanh Hoa. Khanh Hoa team had the most participants with 24 yogis, followed by Ninh Thuan and Phu Yen. At the tournament, the yogis displayed asana yoga, art yoga, acro yoga, etc. to compete for 36 sets of medals.
36 referees were invited to the tournament in order to ensure its quality. Dong Nai and Ninh Thuan were regarded as the two best teams among the participating teams at this year’s tournament. These two provinces have strongly invested in yoga and have strong yoga movement. Especially, Dong Nai Province has cooperated yoga into the system of their Sports Technique Training Center to prepare athletes for national tournaments.

The group performances in the events of groups of 3 female yogis and mixed groups of 5 male-female yogis were interesting and exciting. The competitors in beautiful outfits displayed advanced group yoga poses. Ninh Thuan team excellently won two gold medals in both events of groups of 3 and 5. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, head of Ninh Thuan yoga team, highly appreciated the organization of the host Khanh Hoa, especially the number of quality referees.
Finally, Ninh Thuan team won 22 medals (9 golds, 7 silvers, 6 bronzes), placing first. Dong Nai team ranked second with 9 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Binh Thuan team and Khanh Hoa team finished third and fourth respectively. The tournament helped to connect yoga clubs in Khanh Hoa Province and other provinces and cities nationwide. This is expected to promote the development of yoga in the province and make it more professional, according to Ngo Minh Tu, chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Yoga Federation.
