Brazilian golfer wins Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023

Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 ended after 3 main days of competitions (November 30 – December 2) with the championship claimed by Adilson Da Silva of Brazil, who hit the opening tee shot of the Rio Olympics 2016.

The third main day of competition saw an exciting and compelling competition among legendary golfers namely Adilson Da Silva, Joakim Haeggman, Andrew Marshall, Scott Hend, and Michael Campbell. Scott Hend displayed incredible performance with 8 birdies and rose to the top. Argentine golfer Ricardo Gonzalez made 5 birdies and 1 bogey.  
Brazilian Adilson Da Silva, who had topped the rankings after the first 2 days, continued to perform amazingly in the final day. He started with -7, the Brazilian golfer made it -9 and maintained a safe gap with the rest. With the third birdie and a par at 18th, Adilson Da Silva reached -10 and claimed the championship with cash prize of USD93.500. Scott Hend placed 2nd on -7. Ricardo Gonzalez finished at the tied-third spot along with Michael Campbell on -6.

51-year-old Adilson Da Silva had been playing and won many amateur awards since he was 17 before turning professional at 22. After 29 years playing in the European Senior Tour and Sunshine Tour, the Brazilian golfer has won countless victories. The fact that he was chosen to hit the opening tee shot of the Rio Olympics 2016 made him more widely known. It was a historic moment, marking the return of golf to the Olympics after 112 years.

With Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023, Adilson Da Silva was the first champion of a tournament of the Legends Tour held for the first time in Vietnam as well as Southeast Asia. Besides cash prize, Adilson Da Silva was given a trophy inspired by Dong Son bronze drum, a typical drum of Dong Son culture featuring the national spirit and rich culture of Vietnam.
On his first arrival in Vietnam, the 2005 US Open champion Michael Campbell was impressed with Vinpearl Golf Nha Trang, climate, Vietnamese people and the landscape. “It's a pleasure to be a part of this memorable event," said Campbell.

Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 also saw the improvement of skills of young Vietnamese golfers such as Le Chuc An, Nguyen Viet Gia Han and Nguyen Anh Minh. Le Chuc An won Best Amateur award with 109 points; Nguyen Viet Gia Han was the runner-up with 102 points; Nguyen Anh Minh finished 11th with 88 points. Le Chuc An also won Team Alliance award along with Emanuele Canonica and Simon Khan.
