Khanh Hoa Province’s young weightlifters won 3 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 7th place at the 2025 National Junior Weightlifting Championships. This is a promising result of Khanh Hoa’s weightlifting.
The 2025 National Junior Weightlifting Championships, taking place recently in Dak Lak Province, attracted 236 male and female athletes from 31 teams of provinces, cities and sectors with strong weightlifting movements nationwide such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, People's Police, and Nghe An. The athletes competed in individual and team events (male and female) with 2 age groups (13-14 years old, 15-16 years old) and 13 weight categories (40kg to over 73kg), for 72 sets of medals.
According to Huynh Ngoc Minh, vice-president of Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation, this year's National Junior Weightlifting Championships saw the highest number of participating units and athletes compared to the previous years. This shows that the localities have paid attention and invested in this sport. This is also a promising sign for Vietnam's weightlifting. Through the tournament, the organization committee discovered and selected outstanding athletes for the national youth team to prepare for upcoming international competitions.
Khanh Hoa took part in the championships with 8 male and female athletes, competing in weight classes from 40kg to 67kg in both age groups. As said by Le Minh Chinh, head coach of Khanh Hoa team, Khanh Hoa didn’t have as many weightlifting athletes as other localities. However, with careful preparation, Khanh Hoa weightlifters won encouraging results.
At the end of the championships, the organization committee gave 72 sets of medals to individuals and groups with outstanding results. Hanoi ranked first with 25 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 6 bronze medals; Ho Chi Minh City placed second with 17 silver medals and 7 bronze medals; People's Public Security ranked third with 7 gold medals and 10 silver medals. Khanh Hoa finished 7th with 3 gold medals and 6 silver medals.
Nguyen Thanh Duy (born in 2009) with 3 gold medals was the most outstanding athletes of Khanh Hoa at the 2025 championships. Duy achieved116kg in clean and jerk, 155kg in snatch and finished 271kg in total, surpassing 5 athletes from strong teams of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang to win the gold medal in men's final, age group 15-16, weight class 67kg. Khanh Hoa female weightlifters namely Mau Thi Bay (born in 2012, 40kg weight class) and Bui Nhu Hoai (born in 2012, 59kg weight class) brought home 6 silver medals.
Currently, Khanh Hoa has 15 male and female weightlifters. Over the years, Khanh Hoa weightlifting weightlifters have always gained medals at championships for age groups nationwide.
