Vietnam beach football team ready for Asian Cup

During the training trip to prepare for the upcoming AFC Beach Soccer Championship Thailand 2025, Vietnam beach football team under Coach Mai Van Duc had quality friendly competitions against a strong team from Thailand.

Since the end of February, Vietnam has called up 20 players and planned a training session in Da Nang City in preparation for the AFC Beach Soccer Championship Thailand 2025. Most of the players of Vietnam beach football team come from Da Nang and Khanh Hoa, the two localities with the strongest beach football movement in the country. Among the called up athletes are many experienced faces in beach football such as Tran Kim Trung (top scorer of the 2024 National Beach Football Championship) and Tran Ngoc Bao (the best player of the 2024 National Beach Football Championship).

The national team had quality matches against Imane Beach Soccer Club, one of Thailand's leading beach football clubs during the training session in Da Nang from February 25 to March 12. Vietnam had a narrow 4-3 win and a 1-6 loss to the team from Vietnam. These training matches provided a good opportunity for Vietnam to review their competence and build up their playing style before entering the tournament, which is expected to be very difficult for them, in Thailand.

According to Coach Mai Van Duc, Vietnamese players have been practicing 2 sessions a day recently. In addition to professional training, the players have also practiced physical exercise to ensure the best form and physical foundation to face strong opponents in the upcoming tournament. Reportedly, before leaving for Thailand, the final roster of 12 players will be decided. Hopefully, with careful preparation and the recent quality training session, Vietnam national beach football team will pass the group stage and advance to next stages.

The AFC Beach Soccer Championship Thailand 2025 takes place at Jomtien beach football ground in Pattaya, Thailand from March 20 to 30. The tournament will be played by 16 teams, divided into four groups of four teams each. In the group stage, the teams will compete in a round-robin format to determine rankings according to FIFA rules. The first and second place teams in each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The three best teams of the tournament will represent the continent at the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup scheduled to take place in an African country in May.
