VBA enters its 10th season

Vietnam’s professional basketball tournament VBA will enter its 10th season under the theme “VBA X - Rise Beyond” with some changes, promising to bring basketball supporters exciting competitions.

At the launch of the 10th VBA season 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City held recently, the organization board of VBA 2025 announced new changes of the season aiming to continue its focus on the comprehensive and sustainable development of Vietnam’s basketball towards international standards. Specifically, this season marks the return of the home-and-away format, featuring seven teams: Hanoi Buffaloes, Danang Dragons, Nha Trang Dolphins, Ho Chi Minh City Wings, Saigon Heat, Cantho Catfish, and an international guest team. The matches will take place in the provinces and cities of Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

VBA 2024 saw a decrease in the number of participating teams due to sponsorship issues, from 7 to 6 following Thang Long Warriors' withdrawal, and a change in the league's format from home-and-away format to one-place format in Ho Chi Minh City. Reducing the number of venues to 1 provided a financial relief for the teams; however, it wasn’t convenient for basketball supporters across Vietnam to travel to Ho Chi Minh City to see and cheer for their teams. Therefore, the return of home-and-away format of the 2025 season is a good new for basketball supporters nationwide. 

Besides international players and players of Vietnamese descent as in previous years, VBA 2025 allows players from Asian countries. This change is expected to create new momentum for the tournament, improve on-court performances of the participating teams and gradually bolster the rising status of Vietnam’s basketball in the regional and international arena.

Also in the 2025 season, VBA adopt Sport-Shoppertainment model, combining sports, entertainment, and shopping within the framework of a professional sports tournament in Vietnam. Through this model, VBA aims to provide supporters not only high-quality games but also a comprehensive experience, allowing them to see sports competitions, enjoy leisure activities and do shopping conveniently.

The 10th VBA season also features the support of StarXidol inspirational ambassadors in order to spread positive values of sports to the public. StarXidol ambassadors include basketball players Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy; footballer Luong Xuan Truong and swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien; artist Cuong Seven. 

With home-and-away format, Khanh Hoa basketball supporters can see and cheer for their team Nha Trang Dolphins in Nha Trang City. Reportedly, Nha Trang Dolphins play at Khanh Hoa provincial sports arena (33 Phan Chu Trinh Street, Nha Trang City) from May 30 to August 20 (9 games). In the 2024 season, Nha Trang Dolphins finished in a tie for third place after losing to Saigon Heat in the semi-finals. The best result of Nha Trang Dolphins in VBA so far was the second place in the 2023 season. 

With the remarkable new changes of the 10th VBA season 2025 and the positive results of Nha Trang Dolphins in recent years, Khanh Hoa basketball supporters are expecting an exciting tournament for the home team and also expect interesting experiences.
