Two international taekwondo tournaments to be held in Khanh Hoa

More than 370 Vietnamese and international taekwondo athletes will participate in Southeast Asian taekwondo championship and youth tournament and international taekwondo club championships jointly organized by Vietnam Taekwondo Federation and Khanh Hoa Province at the Khanh Hoa sports arena (33 Phan Chu Trinh Street, Nha Trang Ward) from August 18 to 25. Currently, preparations for the two tournaments have been basically completed. 

According to Nguyen Tuan Thanh, deputy director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the department has deployed a plan and requested relevant departments and units to urgently implement the organization plan of the two tournaments. Up to now, the preparations have basically been completed; Khanh Hoa is ready to welcome international athletes. These are important international sports events where young athletes in Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries to display their competences, preparing for major tournaments. They also serve as an occasion for Khanh Hoa to introduce and promote their potential, strengths, landscape, historical and cultural monuments.

According to the schedule, the 17th Southeast Asian taekwondo championship and youth tournament, pre-SEA Games 33, take place from August 18 to 21. It is expected that more than 250 male and female athletes will compete in the events of combat (U14, U17, champion) and demonstration (standard, creative). The tournament kicks off at 7:00pm on August 19 and closes on August 21. The 21st international taekwondo club championships 2025 kicks off at 7:00pm on August 22 and ends on August 25, featuring more than 350 male and female athletes from international and Vietnamese clubs competing in combat (U12, U14, U17, champion) boxing and demonstration (standard). 

Reportedly, these are preliminary tournaments in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand; therefore, most of the teams will field their strongest forces to the tournaments. Vietnam’s taekwondo team will take part in the tournament with outstanding faces namely Bac Thi Khiem, Nguyen Ngoc Lan Phuong, Nguyen Thi Y Binh, Pham Quoc Viet, Truong Thi Kim Tuyen, Chau Tuyet Van, etc. At the end of July, the Vietnamese taekwondo athletes competed and achieved excellent results with 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 4 bronze medals at the 2025 Asian Junior Taekwondo Championship held in Malaysia recently. The 17th Southeast Asian taekwondo championship and youth tournament, pre-SEA Games 33 and the 21st international taekwondo club championships 2025 held in Khanh Hoa will be a good opportunity for Vietnamese martial arts athletes to perform their skills, thereby having the best preparation for the 33rd SEA Games taking place at the end of December.
