Vietnam claim SEA Games 33 men's football gold medal after defeating Thailand

Vietnam U22 secured an emotional comeback win, defeating hosts Thailand U22 3-2 in SEA Games 33 men's football final to claim the championship.

Thailand U22 took an early lead in the 21st minute from a free-kick just outside the penalty area. Only a few minutes later, the hosts doubled their advantage to 2-0 thanks to a strike from their captain.

In the 48th minute, Vietnam U22 were given a penalty, and Dinh Bac successfully converted it to narrow the gap to 1-2. The pressure from Vietnam U22 forced Thailand U22 defense into an own goal, bringing the score to 2-2 in the 60th minute. The match remained tied at the end of regulation time, sending both teams into extra time.

In the first half of extra time, Thanh Nhan found the back of the net to put Vietnam 3-2 ahead. This was also the final goal of the match, sealing a hard-fought victory for Vietnam U22.
