This is a surprising result as Vietnam U23 were considered the weaker side before the kick-off. However, from the very beginning, although facing physically superior Jordan U23, Vietnam U23 played with confidence. In the 15th minute, during an attack, Vietnam U23 earned a penalty after an opponent's handball in the box. Dinh Bac made no mistake and scored the opener to give Vietnam U23 a 1-0 lead.

After conceding, Jordan U23 pushed forward to search for an equalizer, but Vietnam U23 displayed disciplined and well-organized defense. Jordan failed to find a way past Vietnam’s goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Dinh Bac and his teammates continued to play well. In the 42nd minute, Hieu Minh doubled the lead to 2-0 for Vietnam U23.

Vietnam U23 focused on defending in the second half, yielding possession to Jordan U23. Most of Jordan's attacks were ineffective or prevented by Vietnam’s backline. The match ended without further goals. With a final score of 2-0, Vietnam U23 secured 3 points in their opening game and are placing at the top of the group standings.

On January 7, the AFC U23 Asian Cup finals continue with 4 matches of the teams in Group B and Group C, featuring top teams from the region such as Japan U23 and South Korea U23.
