It’s no wonder Khanh Hoa is a desirable place to live and a treat to visit.

In 2012, Khanh Hoa saw 2.3 million visitors, including 530,000 foreigners, fulfilling 106% of the year’s plan. Especially during last months of 2012, Russian visitors increased significantly, making up 15% of the international tourist arrivals.

The total tourism turnover was VND2,568 billion in 2012 (VND2,200 billion in 2011).

Sea festival 2013 will be held in Khanh Hoa. In addition, Nha Trang City is also chosen by the Ministry of Culture, Sport & Tourism to host the ISTE Nha Trang – Vietnam 2013 with 200 booths of domestic and foreign businesses.

Nguyen Xuan Thuy, the Director of the World Hotel, a member of Khanh Hoa Provincial Tourism Association Committee, says there are such problems as lack of night recreational destinations, tour guides who can speak rare languages, etc.

According to Dong Luong Son, the Director of Yasaka-Saigon-Nhatrang Hotel, local tourism businesses need to work together to reach common training programs, especially on tourism management, service and foreign languages.

Much work needs to be done for a year of great success. More marketing and promotional effort, including tourist product and service improvement, is required.

Phan Thi Thanh Truc, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sport & Tourism, confirms ISTE Nha Trang – Vietnam 2013 will be a good chance for showcasing the destination and encouraging tourists to choose Khanh Hoa as a base for their holidays.

If the events are well organized, Khanh Hoa will see a year of great success, providing opportunities for sustainable tourism development.
