Sunrise Nha Trang Hotel and Six Senses Ninh Van Bay Resort have just been rewarded the prestigious “Green Lotus Label” by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

The certificate of the sustainable tourism Green Lotus Label is granted to tourist accommodations which meet standards on environmental protection and sustainable development.

The Green Lotus Label includes 81 criteria divided into 3 levels: basic level (30 criteria), encouraging level (29 criteria) and high level (22 criteria). The criteria are categorized into 4 groups, A, B, C and D with specific requirements.

The Green Lotus Label certificates have five green-lotus levels.

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay has received the “Green Lotus Label” at level 5, the highest level. According to Kim Anh Huy, a sales coordinator of Six Senses Ninh Van Bay Resort, the resort has schemes to implement the sustainable development management system and to promote the local community workforce.

The resort uses environmentally-friendly materials and saves energy by using a solar-power system at its staff zone. A tree-planting program for its guests and staff is held every year.

Apart from one earth hour turning off all lights for saving energy at full moon, one environmental day is held every month with clean-up activities on beaches. Six Senses Ninh Van Bay organizes social activities such as providing water filter facilities for remote schools; supporting charity institutions, etc.

Sunrise Nha Trang Hotel saves 132,500kW of power every year by using solar energy water heaters contributing to environmental preservation.

Besides, the hotel has a standard waste water treatment and garbage classification and management system.

Training courses on environmental protection are held regularly for its staff. All the activities have helped reduce energy bills and minimize negative impacts on the environment.

“We will do more to protect the environment and promote sustainable tourism, ” Pho Thien Son, CEO of Ocean Hospitality & Service Joint Stock Company, investor representative of Sunrise Nha Trang says.
