Khanh Hoa tourism continued to remain the highlight of the local socio-economic development in 2012

6 years after receiving the one-millionth tourist traveling to Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa by rail, Khanh Hoa welcomed the two-millionth visitor on November 12, 2012.

In 2012, Khanh Hoa Province received over 2.3 million guests, including 530,000 foreigners. The room occupancy rate reached 60.68%. The international tourist number increased significantly thanks to direct flights from the Russian Far East to Cam Ranh Airport.

Phan Thanh Truc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sport & Tourism says Khanh Hoa Tourism sector has remained stable. With the great concern and support from the local authority, in 2012, many sport, culture and tourism events were held. The local social safety and security were assured.

Last year, the Departments of Culture, Sport & Tourism of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong Provinces appraised the tourism cooperation program, period 2010-2015 in an effort to promote their tourism products and images through culture and tourism events.

A variety of measures were suggested to improve the cooperation effectiveness in the coming years.

Khanh Hoa tourism sector also took part in tourism promotion conferences, International Hue Festival 2012, International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City 2012, ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) Travex in Laos, etc.

According to the Department of Culture, Sport & Tourism, on the 4-day new year holiday 2013, Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa received 39,000 guests, mostly foreigners with the room occupancy rate in 3-4 star hotels of over 90%.

Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang took the lead in the turnover, VND13.7 billion, followed by Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, over VND6 billion.

The most successful recreational destinations included Vinpearl Amusement Park with 14,400 visitors and Thap Ba Hot Spring Centre with 6,200 tourists. The newly-opened One-Hundred-Egg Mud Bath tourist site attracted 800 arrivals with a turnover of VND300 million.
