Vietnamese people have just celebrated to mark the Lunar New Year, their most important annual holiday. The event was marked with firework displays and family gatherings. This year is known as the year of the snake, taking over from the dragon.
Tourist arrivals to Nha Trang City during the holiday increased significantly, much higher than expected. Many people chose to travel because the holiday stretched to 9 days
Local hotels and recreational sites were full, with the vast majority of excess supply being available at off-peak times.

Nha Trang was crowded with both domestic and international tourists, especially on the 3rd – 6th day of the New Year. Along Tran Phu Street, the most beautiful street by the beach were full of tourist cars.
Phan Thanh Truc, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sport & Tourism says local establishments from two stars upward, including Vinpearl, Sunrise, Novotel and Ana Mandara were full on the 3rd – 6th day of the lunar New Year
The city experienced a tourism boom with a turnover of VND228 billion. Hotels from two stars downward achieved occupancy levels over 93%. Total tourist arrivals to Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province during 7 days of the New Year were 152,450, including 31,042 foreigners.
Ana Mandara received 366 visits with an occupancy rate of 100%, generating revenue of more than VND4 billion; Six Senses Ninh Van Bay welcomed 182 visits with an occupancy rate of 82.76%, revenue of over VND4.4 billion.
Amid celebrations welcoming the Year of the Snake, tourist destinations held many interesting activities to attract visitors. This lunar New Year holiday, Nha Trang I’Resort served 21,500 people with a turnover of VND3.8 billion; Thap Ba Hot Spring Centre 20,285 tourists, VND2.9 billion in turnover; Lao Island, Orchid Stream Tourist Site under Long Phu Tourist Joint Stock Company 13,112 tourists, VND2.2 billion in turnover.
Nha Trang hotel market experienced over 90% room occupancy, meaning it became increasingly difficult for leisure travelers to find a room during the peak times.
Nha Trang is emerging as a popular tourist destination, especially during holidays, as visitors are drawn in by the tropical weather, beautiful beaches and rich culture.
