The first-ever Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2013 opened on April 18 at the Hanoi International Centre for Exhibition (ICE Hanoi), 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi.

The VITM 2013 theme is ‘Discovering the Red River Delta – the cradle of Vietnamese culture’.

The VITM 2013 is organized by Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA), the Ministry of Culture, Sport & Tourism in cooperation with Hanoi People’s Committee to mark the Tourism Year of the Red River Delta - Hai Phong 2013.

There are nearly 400 booths, including 267 from over 30 cities and provinces nationwide, and 100 from 18 foreign countries such as Australia, U.S.A, France, Japan, South Korea, Russia, India, the Philippines, Indonesia and so on.

This is the first time an event of this kind has been organized. The event is identified as an invaluable opportunity for Vietnam to promote its tourism in the face of increasing competitions and changing tastes.

In his address to the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan appreciated the effort of the fair organizers.

He urged the Ministry of Culture, Sport & Tourism to provide opportunities for Vietnam Tourism Association to further promote its role in tourism marketing more professionally and effectively.

VITM Hanoi 2013 is a showcase for stimulating travel, tourism and hospitality industries and other related ones at home and abroad.

Deputy Prime Minister believes that VITM will become a festival of all travel businesses and people as well as a rendezvous of both domestic and international tourism investors and managers.

Vietnam Government always supports the initiative, so that VITM 2013 will be successfully held annually in Vietnam for sustainable tourism development, he adds.
