Nha Trang has been chosen as a destination of several international yacht races since 2004. Nha Trang Bay has been among 4 places to visit of the International Yacht Race Hong Kong - Nha Trang held every two years.

Nha Trang saw the first Evason Ana Mandara-Nha Trang Sailing Race in June 2012 with the participation of 19 sailing vessels, the national Sailing Club Championship in the framework of the Sea Festival 2013 and many more.
Yacht-related have opened tourism development opportunities. Yacht trips have provided yacht owners, mostly prosperous businessmen, opportunities to share passion for the recreational sporting as well as seek for investment and business opportunities. Meanwhile, yacht events have attracted a great number of visitors to Nha Trang City, generating a remarkable turnover in tourism.
Ha Ton Duc, CEO of Sai Gon Yacht Company says, “I have joined the Hong Kong – Nha Trang yacht race organizing board for nearly 10 years. After the races, some yacht owners, sailors and racers have returned to Nha Trang to spend their holidays with their families or friends. Some have been back to Vietnam to seek for investment opportunities."
Mehmet Kin, Director of Focus Travel And Trading Company Limited says 3 marina construction projects in Nha Trang include VND750-billion Royal marina center, VND388 billion international marina park and VND2,956 billion Indochina Nha Trang - Peacock Marina Complex on Tran Phu St. and Pham Van Dong St.
According to the Department of Culture, Sport & Tourism, to attract yacht clubs and marina investment in Nha Trang, the local investment environment should improve together with tourism investment appeal initiatives, etc.
Expectations of International Yacht Festival
The scheme of the International Yacht Festival 2014 by Thai Son Binh Duong Joint Stock Company (under Thai Son Corporation, Ministry of Defense) is expected to give yacht tourism a boost.
Hoang Ngoc Tuan, CEO of Thai Son Binh Duong Joint Stock Company says, “We decide to organize the International Yacht Festival 2014 as an unique sea tourist product in Nha Trang.”
Themed “Five continents gather at Nha Trang sea”, the festival is expected to draw hundreds of revelers across the world.
20 domestic yachts and 100 international ones from German, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, U.S.A, Holland, etc will join the International Yacht Festival 2014 featuring some 16 interesting cultural activities. These festival will be a fun way to learn about the local culture, arts, and traditions.
The event will be televised on RTL (German), Reuters (UK), Media Corp (Singapore) and local TV channels.
