More and more Russian tourists travel to Nha Trang, the beach city full of white sand, sunlight, wind and friendly, hospitable people. Moreover, many of them have a strong attachment with this land.

Russian words appear in everywhere

For a long time, the streets like Tran Quang Khai, Nguyen Thien Thuat, Biet Thu, Hung Vuong have been considered as the Western streets in Nha Trang City. It is visible to realize that the panels in those streets are written in both English and Russian. Even popular restaurants, café and roadside bread stalls welcome the tourists from the country of the birch trees with Russian words on them.

Tuyet, a bread vendor in Nguyen Thien Thuat Street said “I don’t know any English or Russian words. Seeing a lot of Russian tourists traveling to Nha Trang City, I had my niece to write some Russian words about kinds of bread I'm selling. Since then, I have Russian customers. I remember the words so that I can do the right kind of bread that they want.”

“It is very pleased that we can find anything we need without asking for directions when strolling the streets. The locals are very friendly with smile always on their faces", said  Mokretcova, a 47-year-old Russian tourists.

According to Nguyen Van Thanh, director of the provincial Tourism Promotion – Information Center, Nha Trang City has many advantages, including locating not far from Cam Ranh international airport; being among the world’s most beautiful bays; having a lot of attractive tourist sites like Vinpearlland, Ponagar Temple, Hon Mun Island, Hoa Lan Stream, Yang Bay Waterfall, and Thap Ba Hot Spring; offering reasonable prices for tours and services; being well invested in hotels and restaurants. All those things have created an attraction to Russian tourist.

The second homeland

Nha Trang City is the place where Dynin Yuri, former manager of a tourism company in Saint Petersburg (Russia), fell in love with Nguyen Thi Bich Khoa, former employee of Golden Smile Travel (Nha Trang). From the good impressiveness for each other at the beginning, they fell in love with each other and had a happy wedding one year later. “Since getting married, my husband and I have managed our tourist office. There are a lot of Russian tourists traveling to Nha Trang City. My husband is also a Russian, so the work goes smoothly. Our greatest happiness is my little daughter Alina. We teach her both Vietnamese and Russian. Yury is applying for Vietnamese citizenship,” Bich Khoa shared.

Dzyuba Elena, 27 years old, manager of Check-point restaurant in Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, can speak Vietnamese fluently. She said that when being at school in Vladivostok City (Russia), she heard many good things about Vietnam, so she decided to learn Vietnamese. She traveled to Vietnam many times before. She met Novoselov Anton, her present husband and owner of Check-point restaurant, in 2009 in Vladivostok airport. They traveled to Nha Trang City together and fell in love with each other.

Anton, Elena and Yury are three Russians among many ones who are living and working in Nha Trang City now. They have a special love for the beach city. “We consider Nha Trang City as our home and Vietnam as our second homeland,” said Dzyuba Elena.
