To keep safe for waterway traffic in Nha Trang, especially in the summer when a large number of tourists travel to islands, wearing life-jackets on boats has been implemented strictly.

Coming to Cau Da Port one day, we saw a busy atmosphere with hundreds of tourists on board to take island tours in Nha Trang Bay. All of them wore life-jackets before the boat they were on started. The warning ‘Passengers have to wear life-jackets. Boats are allowed to run only when all the passengers are in life-jackets” was repeated continuously by the port’s speaker.

A tourist, named Bich Phuong, from Da Lat said, “This is the third second I’ve taken tours to islands in Nha Trang since the first time 5 years ago. This time, I feel secure as safety has been paid service.”

Nguyen Huy Toan, a tourist guide of Focus Travel (Nha Trang), also said that safety keeping for passengers on boats in Nha Trang has been bettered, especially equipping life-jackets.

Currently, Cau Da Port has 216 boats. All the boats owners have learned about regulations on waterway safety. Twice a year in April and August, the management of Cau Da Port checks up all the boats to ensure machinery, life-jackets, firefighting equipment and some others.

A boat owner named Ho Trung Tin said that he has 4 boats, each of which has 45 seats but is equipped with 50 life-jackets with sizes suitable for adults and children.

According to Dinh Vinh Dien, Deputy Chief of Nha Trang Bay Management, not only life-jackets for all passengers, at least a raft for 15 and many life buoys are required on each boat. “Now, wearing life-jackets on boats has been implemented strictly. People who discover any boats which don’t supply enough life-jackets for passengers can notify us”, added he.
