Growing trees, collecting rubbish or warning tourists not to drop litter or pluck plants are simple but meaningful acts of tourism businesses contributing in environmental protection.
In recent years, many tourism businesses in Khanh Hoa Province have paid much attention to protecting environment. Every year, the staff of Novotel Nha Trang enthusiastically join “Green planet day” launched by the world-famous hotel manager Accor Group. On those days, they planted a lot of green trees in some places in the province. For example, this activity was carried out in Dien Lac Nursery School (Dien Khanh District) recently and in Dien Tho Nursery School (Dien Khanh District) last year. Up to now, the trees have grown up, partly shaded the schools and made them greener. “Growing trees is a useful action for environmental protection. It’s also a way to help the hotel staff raise the awareness of environmental protection’, said Nguyen Thi Thuy, sales and marketing director of Novotel Nha Trang.

Also with the aim to propagandize environmental protection, a good-looking space with unique works made from wasted stuffs such as plastic bottles, glass bottles, cans, boxes, nylon bags and shells has been set up on Monkey Island. According to Le Dung Lam, director of Long Phu Tourist Company, the administrator of Monkey Island, the work can re-use some wastes on the island and remind the staff and tourists about environmental protection.
At Yang Bay Tourist Park, reserving and embellishing the nature have been attached importance by its management. “The park has plates warning tourists not to pick flowers and trees. Annually, we grow new trees to raise the natural feature and green space for the tourist area”, said Truong Quoc Thang, an official of Yang Bay Tourist Park.
Some travel firms often organize activities towards protecting environment. For example, Vietravel Nha Trang always has environment protecting activities in plan. The travel firm gives self-destroying bags to their tourists, recommends them not to drop litter to the sea and some other activities.
Meanwhile, Saigontourist – Nha Trang Branch has operated tours associated with green tourism. The firm took tourists to Phuoc Dong to visit and grow trees or joined tourists in cleaning the beaches in Nha Trang and Hon Tam.
According to Do Thi Hoang Dung, an official of the provincial Department of Natural Resource and Environment, tourism has made some influences on the ecosystem; therefore, environmental protection should be an important part in the process of tourism development.
