Japan has recently started a simplifying visa application procedure for Vietnamese citizens who take package tours (with a stay of less than 15 days) organized by local travel agencies registered with the Japanese embassy and consulate general located in the country.
According to Japan National Tourism Organization, in the first nine months of 2014, Japan welcomed 90,700 Vietnamese tourists, increasing by 49% year-on-year. In September particularly, 10,700 Vietnamese tourists came to Japan. With this growth rate, Japan may reach the target of 200,000 Vietnamese tourists by 2017.
