Overcoming challenges in 2014, Khanh Hoa’s tourism is striving for new targets in 2015.
Overcoming challenges
Looking back 2014, the tourism industry of Khanh Hoa Province got praiseworthy achievements. Not only were the year’s targets fulfilled but many difficulties in the year were overcome. The province’s total turnover from tourism in 2014 hit VND6,061 billion, increasing by 28% over 2013 and exceeding the target by 21%. The number of tourists reached 3.6 million (including more than 857,000 international ones), rising by 0.6% over the target. Russia led the international tourists with 270,000 (increasing by 60% over 2013 and making up 25% of the total figure), followed by China, Australia, Korea, the US, France, Germany, England, Japan, Canada, etc.
Besides, many 4-5 stars were built and put into service. More high-class tourist products have been set up to serve tourists’ demand. Cam Ranh International Airport also welcomed over 2 million passengers in the year.

Expectations for 2015
Entering the new year 2015, tourist enterprises in Khanh Hoa are facing to the deep decrease in the number of Russian visitors. However, they united to solve the difficulty. Band-aid solutions such as lowering service prices and offering promotions have been made. Otherwise, the long-term solution of the province is intensifying tourism promotion in traditional as well as new markets.
In early 2015, a big conference to introduce Khanh Hoa’s tourism was held in Hangzhou, China with the participation of over 140 Chinese travel firms that have committed to join and open tours to Nha Trang. “The conference has opened new promises about the market of Chinese visitors. Tourists of these firms are often high spenders, using expensive services”, said Luyen Mạnh Cuong, director of the provincial Tourism Promotion Information Center. In addition, since January 26, Vietjet Air has opened a flying route carrying tourists from China to Cam Ranh International Airport.
Besides, from the growth of Korean visitors, some enterprises quickly have measures to draw them. For example, according to Sales and Marketing Director of Novotel Nha Trang Hotel Nguyen Thi Thuy, the hotel has attended many events organized in Korea by France-based Accor Group to advertise tourism in Nha Trang. The hotel is making preparations to receive a mass of Korean tourists in May.
Some tourist enterprises in Nha Trang also are expecting to develop the market of Indian tourists.
Phan Thanh Truc, Deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, confirmed, “We have great expectations of the tourism in 2015. Basing on good conditions in nature, infrastructures and human resources, we can believe that our tourism will reach new achievements this year.”
