Indonesia is the third most populous country in Asia. The country sends about 8 million tourists abroad each year. This is a potential market for Khanh Hoa Province to promote tourism.
Indonesian people like travel. However, up to now, few tourists from this country have traveled to Vietnam, about 70,000/year. To Khanh Hoa Province, the number of visitors from Indonesia only ranks the 12th compared to Asian countries. The main reasons are few promotions for this market and no direct flights from Indonesia to the province.

To strengthen tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia, Vietnam Tourism Administration (VNTA) has recently brought a group of 13 businessmen and journalists from Indonesia to some famous tourist destinations of Vietnam, including Nha Trang. In two-day stay in the beach city, the group visited some tourist spots in Nha Trang, including Vinpearl Land, Vinadiving, Merperle Hon Tam, Hon Mun, etc. and some 3-5 star hotels. They also experienced some typical tourist products of Nha Trang like mud bath, diving, etc and went shopping in Dam Market.
“Nha Trang has a very beautiful landscape, friendly people and good security. We will add Nha Trang in our company’s tour to Vietnam”, Pudjiati Soendojo, general director of an Indonesian tourist company named Travel Centre.
“During the past years, Vietnam has been appreciated as a safe, hospitable destination with abundant tourist products. Vietnam and Indonesia have exempted visa for citizens of the two countries, which also impulses tourism of the two countries”, Chandra Hendrik Hasudungan Manurung, editor of TVOne said.
“To increase the number of tourists from Indonesia to Nha Trang in specific and Vietnam in general, it’s necessary to advertise Vietnam’s tourism in Indonesia”, said Welly Motten, tour manager of Indonesian tourist company Golden Rama.
According to Head of VNAT's International Cooperation Department Dinh Ngoc Duc, this activity belongs to the national tourism promotion in 2015, helping travel firms and the press to survey, popularize and introduce Vietnam’s destinations to Indonesian market. Vietnam has many advantageous conditions to develop tourists from Indonesia, the potential market to many countries in the world.
