With more domestic routes to Cam Ranh International Airport opened recently, Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa promises more tourism development in the coming time.

More domestic routes to Cam Ranh International Airport

Prospects of tourism development

According to Ngo Van Xuan, Head of Nha Trang Branch’s Vietnam Airlines, the opening Cam Ranh – Hai Phong flying route is based on a survey on travel demand. The firm estimates the new route will serve about 70,000 passengers, 50% of whom are tourists and 30% of whom are travelers for business. In the following years, the figure is expected to rise by 10% - 14%. “As Khanh Hoa and Hai Phong are two big economic centers, the flying route linking them is necessary to impulse their tourism cooperation”, Xuan shared.

Hai Phong is confided as one of focuses for tourism development in the country. In the first half of 2015, the city welcomed 2.7 million tourists (rising by 11.9% year-on-year), including 315,000 international ones (increasing by 9.2% year-on-year). Moreover, Hai Phong is contiguous to Quang Ninh where Ha Long Bay receives thousands of visitors. The flying route linking Cam Ranh and Hai Phong has created an opportunity for Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa to welcome more visitors from Hai Phong and contiguous provinces.

The flying route Cam Ranh – Can Tho is considered as a necessary condition for Khanh Hoa to draw more tourists from the Western South region. “Our survey shows that the number of domestic and foreign tourists to The Mekong Delta provinces has recently enjoyed good growth. Travel demand of local people also has increased. We expect that Cam Ranh – Can Tho flying route will facilitate the travel between the two destinations as well as the two regions”, Tran Doan The Duy said. Vietravel will popularize the new route not only in Can Tho but in other provinces in The Mekong Delta.

It’s possible to say that opening more domestic flying routes to Cam Ranh International Airport has opened up opportunities for Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa to attract more visitors.
